Aligning Grading Practices for Performance & Feedback

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
In order for teachers to truly implement a performance-based proficiency focused classroom several elements must be in place: proficiency targets, a thematic curriculum aligned with performance assessments, learning targets and lessons that allow students to meet the performance objectives of the curriculum. Yet, feedback that is focused on grades in order to support outdated grading practices can derail even the best efforts to bring change to the proficiency classroom. This session will ask teachers the tough questions to align what they know and believe about language learning with the grading practices they implement in their classrooms every day. A special focus will be placed on establishing systems that allow both teachers and learners to document student growth based on the instructional activities designed to meet daily, weekly or unit performance objectives.
